Tinted Coconut Oil Lip Balm – Tips From The Photographer
If you are like me, you have lipstick containers with a little left in the bottom, not really enough to use but you still hate throwing it away because you love the color. Well, here is a way to use those up and make a great lip balm that will keep your lips soft and shiny. The coconut oil keeps your lips soft and helps if your lips are chapped. The color from the lipstick adds a touch of tint and lets you get the most from your favorite lipsticks. It is super easy to make and I love it!
Ingredients:
Coconut Oil
Lipstick – a great way to use up the bottoms of lipstick colors you love!
Measurements:
1 Tbsp. coconut oil
1/8 tsp. lipstick (you can try adding more lipstick if the color is too light)
Making the Mix:
Melt the coconut oil and lipstick slowly. If using a microwave, only do 10 second intervals, mixing in between. Once the ingredients are melted, stir well to blend until color is uniform. The color will be darker when in liquid form. If you find the color is too light once it cools, you can just put it back into a bowl, melt it back down and add more lipstick to darken the color.
Storage:
Store the mix in a tightly sealing, covered container. The lip gloss can become very soft or liquid in warm temperatures so make sure you have a container that seals tightly. During hot summer temperatures, you may want to store this in the refrigerator. I used these Clear Plastic Refillable Cosmetic Jars with Lids from Amazon.
